Day 1Arrive in Sapporo
Fly into New Chitose Airport, usually connecting through Tokyo, and transfer to Sapporo.

Day 2Sapporo
Odori Park, the clock tower and the city’s markets. In February the Sapporo Snow Festival fills the city; in summer the parks are in bloom.

A day by the Otaru canal, its glass workshops and music-box museum.

Day 4Furano or the snow
In summer, the lavender and flower fields of Furano and Biei (lavender peaks in July). In winter, a snow day at a ski resort, with lessons for first-timers.

Day 5Hokkaido countryside
A second day in the countryside: the Blue Pond at Biei in summer, or snow activities and a hot spring in winter.

Day 6Fly to Okinawa
Domestic flight from Sapporo to Naha, then to your beach hotel.

Shuri Castle park and Kokusai Street in Naha.

Drive north to the Churaumi Aquarium, one of the largest in the world, and the Kouri Island bridge.

A beach day, or the new Junglia nature theme park in the north of the island.

Day 10The Kerama Islands
A boat trip to the Kerama Islands for snorkelling over coral reefs (weather permitting).

Transfer to Naha Airport for your flight home, usually connecting through Tokyo or Osaka.
