Overview
Okinawa is Japan’s tropical south: white-sand beaches, coral reefs and a distinct island culture shaped by the former Ryukyu Kingdom.
Few Indian travellers know it is part of Japan, which makes it a wonderful surprise for honeymooners and families who want beaches without leaving Japan.

- Stay

When to go
April to October for beach weather. July to September is the main typhoon period, so we build in flexibility. Winter is mild but not swimming weather.
How long and getting there
How long: 3 to 5 nights.
Getting there: About 2.5 to 3 hours by flight from Tokyo, or about 2 hours from Osaka, to Naha. Miyakojima and other islands are a short connecting flight further.
Highlights
- Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. One of the world’s largest aquariums, with whale sharks.
- Kerama Islands. Clear water for snorkelling and diving, a short ferry from Naha.
- Miyakojima. Some of Japan’s most beautiful beaches.
- Kouri Island. A long bridge over turquoise water and quiet beaches.

- Okinawa World. The Gyokusendo limestone cave and a traditional village, in the south of the island near Naha.
Opening days, prices and ticket rules change through the year. We book dated tickets in advance as part of your itinerary.

Do we need a visa separately for Okinawa?
No. Okinawa is part of Japan, so your Japan visa covers it.
What about typhoons?
They are most likely from July to September. We monitor forecasts, choose flexible bookings and keep a buffer day where possible.
